Strawberry festival delights food and history lovers
By MARCIA HARDING

Historic Langhorne Association (HLA) headquarters provided a perfect spot for a Strawberry Festival on Sunday, June 10. Tables were set up under the shade trees that made the warm day very pleasant and strawberries and ice cream particularly enjoyable.
There were activities for the children, and for adults, a book signing by Kathleen Zingaro Clark, author of "Images of America - Bucks County.” Much of the information in the book was contributed by HLA.
A table where
Langhorne memorabilia was displayed for sale also had the book available for
purchase. Memorabilia on offer included lovely china plates with drawings of
local houses, crockery, note paper decorated with local scenes, a collection
of framable prints and CDs relating information about historic Langhorne. A
maroon and white throw with Langhorne's founding date and scenes printed on the
edge. Much of this interesting memorabilia often goes unnoticed by visitors to
the Library Museum because of small display space.
The building was open for visitors and many spent time inside looking at the artifacts, pictures and other archival objects. Proceeds from the Festival will1 go towards maintenance of the building which is historic itself having
been built in 1888 and once served as Langhorne's first Library. It has served as HLA headquarters since 1977 and, besides hosting monthly meetings, a non-profit organization containing a gift shop, and museum.
Maintained by donations and income from special events, HLA depends on support from those who are interested in history and appreciate its preservation.
It is open to the public as research library and as a museum. Monday 7-9 p.m., Wednesday, 10 a.m.- 12 noon, and Wednesday evenings 7-9 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12 noon or by appointment by calling 215-757-1 888.
